Auditions

Auditions for ANNIE are located at HK Middle School (451 Route 81 Killingworth) and are as follows:

Wednesday May 13 Children (ages 8 – 13) 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Adult Roles (ages 14 and up) 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Thursday May 14 Children (ages 8 – 13) 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Adult Roles (ages 14 and up) 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Saturday May 16 Callbacks –   (held at Killingworth Library)  3:00 – 5:00 pm
Monday May 18 Full Cast Who’s Who/Music     6:00 -8:30  pm

Some special notes about auditions:

  • There is no need to schedule an appointment. The process should move quickly.
  • If multiple members of the same family who are different ages would like to audition, you may certainly come together. There is no need to come multiple times based on ages. Just let us know when you sign in.
  • Adults:  Please prepare 16 measures, ballad or up-tempo from a Broadway musical. Please bring marked sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.
  • Children: Be prepared to sing in small groups. There is no need to bring prepared songs. Children will be taught a section from “Annie” at the audition. If interested in auditioning for Annie or main orphan, 16 measures of “Tomorrow” or “Maybe” song should be prepared.
  • If you would like to be involved in any aspect of production preparation and feel you have a desire to volunteer some time to help with costumes, audition week or any other aspects of the production, please Producer, Chris Solimene at chris@ArtfulLivingCT.com

Character Breakdown:

Annie
A street-wise orphan; she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly, big-voiced.

Warbucks
A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish.
Gender: Male
Age: 40 to 55

Grace Farrell
Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle.
Gender: Female
Age: 20 to 35

Orphans
The other girls in the orphanage with Annie. These girls are gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially loveable. There are many orphans. The following have lines: Molly, Kate, Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy.

Servants
The servants at the Warbucks mansion. Includes Drake, Mrs. Pugh, Mrs. Greer, Cecille, and Annette.
Gender: Any
Age: 20 to 50

Miss Hannigan
The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter, and cold.

Rooster
Miss Hannigan’s no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man.

Rooster’s girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. She is considered to be a floozy and bimbo.

Bert Healy
The ultimate radio personality. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents.

The 32nd President of the United States. A Democrat and friend of Warbucks.
